MURATA MACHINERY, LTD.: Environmental Philosophy

Preservation of the global environment is one of our main philosophies as we strive to build a society in which people will be able to live happily and in harmony with nature, both now and in the future.

MURATA MACHINERY, LTD.: Environmental Policies

We measure the impact of our manufacturing activities, products, and services on the environment in order to establish a policy to minimize the damage to the environment. These guidelines are applicable for all of our 4 business divisions. An overview of these guidelines is given below.

  1. We will form an environmental management organization that will promote action to preserve the environment at all factories.
  2. We will establish and review environmental goals and objectives, and continue to improve our environmental management system and performance including preventing pollution.
  3. We will not only obey all laws and regulations concerning the environment that are related to the activities, products, and services of our businesses, but also enact voluntary standards, and expend a maximum of effort towards fulfilling people's expectations of our environmental responsibilities.
  4. The workers at our Inuyama and other factory locations will follow the below guidelines as steps towards environmental preservation.
    1. Attempt to reduce the electricity and heating energy consumed at the facilities.
    2. Devise ways to reduce the resources used in business activities.
    3. In addition to working to reduce the industrial wastes expelled as a results of business activities, expand trash sorting/recovery, reduce incinerated wastes, strive to achieve zero land-fill waste, and continue to promote recycling.
    4. Create designs that take the environment into account.
  5. We will appoint internal environmental auditors who will conduct random internal environmental inspections if necessary, in addition to making an annual plan. The auditors will review the environmental management system and work to improve it.
  6. We will conduct advertising and environmental education campaigns for all workers at the Headquarters and Inuyama Factory, attempt to raise environmental awareness and understanding of the company's environmental policies, and encourage workers to participate in environmental preservation activities. In addition, we will explain our environmental policies to our partner companies, and request that they also join us in our conservation efforts.
  7. This policy will be posted publicly both inside and outside of the company.
